Without Maurice Baker for much of the game last Saturday, Eddie Sutton's OSU Cowboys lost 70-61 at home to the Texas Longhorns. It's the third straight year the Cowboys have lost at home to the Longhorns, an amazing statistic considering Gallagher Iba Arena is widely considered one of the nation's toughest college venues.

The Longhorns were led by Royal Ivey with 15 points. OSU's leading scorer was Victor Williams with 18. The Pokes desperately missed Baker, who only played 11 minutes due to a groin injury.

"He went out and shot the ball yesterday and told me that he was going to play today," said Sutton of Baker. "The trainer said it wouldn't hurt him to play, but he'd be in pain. When he went out to warm-up he was in great pain, and I told him not to play. At half time the trainer came to me and told me Maurice wanted to play. I think you could see he was very gimpy out there. Defensively, he was having a difficult time covering anybody we put him on."

The Pokes are now 13-1 on the season and next face the Baylor Bears tomorrow night in Waco. The Horns are back in action tonight against Providence.
