Bob Simmons Expected To Resign. by: Jason Waganer November 6, 2000 Oklahoma State Head Football Coach Bob Simmons is expected to resign today at a 3 p.m. press conference in Stillwater. After last Saturday's home loss to #20 Texas A&M, the Cowboys secured their third consecutive losing season. Bob Simmons is 29-36 in six seasons at OSU. He took over a demoralized program in 1995 and immediately made strides. In his first season, the Cowboys were an improved team beating the Sooners for the first time in 19 years. In his second year, they continued to rebuild and ended the season with a record of 5-6. In 1998, Simmons led the Cowboys to their most impressive season in over a decade. The Cowboys finished 8-4, with wins over Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. However, since 1998 the Cowboys have had three consecutive losing seasons and have not defeated any top tier teams. Bob Simmons did an ok job at OSU. He had one great year and five mediocre ones. It is time for a change. The Cowboys will be better off with a new leader.
