Cowboys should hire Watson Brown by: Staff Reporter November 12, 2000 The Oklahoma State Cowboy's next head football coach should be Watson Brown, the current head coach of Alabama-Birmingham. Brown's Alabama-Birmingham team is currently 6-4 in only its fifth year of division one football. Last Saturday, Brown's team lost an extremely close battle the Southern Mississippi 33-30 in double overtime. OSU fans, that's the same Southern Miss team that won easily in Stillwater earlier this season. Brown has a good track record, a good offensive system and good blood lines (he is Longhorn head coach Mac Brown's brother). Of all of the candidates O-State is considering, Watson Brown is the best fit for the Big 12 and the state of Oklahoma. Brown was offensive coordinator for the Sooners in 1993 and 1994 and built a solid relationship with Oklahoma high school coaches. Brown won't blame losses in recruiting and a lack of wins on sharing the state's talent with top ranked Oklahoma. Brown currently has to battle Alabama and Auburn for talent in the state of Alabama and this year, he's on pace to finish with the second best record in the state. |
