OSU-Colorado a "must win" game

The OSU-Colorado game this weekend in Boulder is a must win game. Since college football games can no longer end in a tie, one of these two teams will come away victorious, no matter how ugly it might be.

Colorado enters the game with a record of 1-6, with losses to Colorado State, USC, Washington, Kansas State, Texas and Kansas. Their only win came in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies.

OSU enters the game 2-4, with losses to Southern Miss, Texas, Missouri and Iowa State. The Cowboys only wins came against Tulsa and Southwest Texas State.

Both teams desperately need a win, and one will get it done. The other, may not get but one or two more for the remainder of the season.

The Buffaloes have already secured their second losing season since 1984. If OSU loses, they'll be one loss away from their third consecutive losing season.

The game pits two former Bill McCartney disciples. Both were on the staff when Colorado won its only National Championship. Just a few years ago, both were among college football's hottest young coaches. Today, they're both on the brink of being jobless.

Simmons will be fired by Oklahoma State at the end of this season, barring a miraculous turnaround. McCartney will probably have one more year to try and prove himself.
