Cowboys Bedlam Notes

* The Cowboys victory over OU on Saturday ended the Sooners 19-game home winning streak. The Pokes had an outstanding game plan offensively, running a total of 87 plays which broke down into 40 running plays and 47 passing plays. Although the Cowboys only ended the game with 76 yards rushing, the attempts kept the Sooner defense off balance.

* OSU looks to have an awesome battle at QB in the spring. Saturday afternoon, Josh Fields looked like a potential all-conference player with his performance over OU. Fields showcased tremendous poise late in the game in a loud, intimidating atmosphere in Norman. Pogi left the game early after two interceptions. My bet, Fields wins the battle next fall and starts next season at the number one spot.

* Hopefully for Les Miles and the OSU coaches, the big win Saturday will carry over into the recruiting season. So far, the Cowboy coaching staff has struggled in the recruiting game. The momentum from this game should help the Pokes sway a few preps into visiting Stillwater.

* The Cowboys officially end the season 4-7. But this season will forever be remembered as the year they ended the Sooners journey to a repeat Big 12 and National Championship. Next year, things don't get easier for OSU. The Cowboys drop northern division opponents Iowa State, Colorado and Missouri and pick up Kansas, Kansas State and Nebraska. However, who knows how far the momentum from Saturday's game will go in helping Miles build up the Pokes' confidence.
