OSU Coaching Staff & Philosophies
Head Coach: Les Miles, 1st Year
Alma Mater: Michigan Overall Record: 0-0
Philosophy: Everyone in Oklahoma on both sides of the Bedlam Battle know what Les Miles likes to do.
Miles likes to spread it at times and always keep you guessing. Judging by what he did with a young,
inexperienced Tony Lindsay, Aso Pogi has got to be salivating. He brought in a proven defensive coordinator
in Bill Clay from Alabama-Birmingham who guided a 11th ranked defense. One thing is for sure, it will be much
more exciting than the brand of football we've seen the last three years.
Defensive Coordinator: Bill Clay, 1st Year
Philosophy: Bill Clay comes in to run a defense that has been inconsistent to say the least for the last three
seasons. Clay brings in a odd 4-2-5 alignment that is designed to try to slow the pass-happy Big 12. Clay aims
more for being a defense that prevents points rather than yards, his unit at Alabama-Birmingham gave up just
17 points per game a year ago. That is something that Cowboy fans love to hear after giving up over 22 points
seven times last season.
Offensive Coordinator: Mike Gundy, 1st Year
Philosophy: Mike Gundy is one of, if not the most highly paid assistant in the country, yet will almost share
offensive coordinator duties with the head coach. While that may seem odd it is what the Stillwater crowds need
to get interested. It has been more interesting the past three seasons to watch the changes on the field than watch
the team that was playing on it. That will not be the case this season, Miles and Gundy will have Aso Pogi
running an exhilarating offense to put butts in the seats.
