Sooners Prepare for October Midterm

The Oklahoma Sooner football team received an A+ on its first official test of the season. However, the team can't enjoy it for long because the midterm occurs this Saturday in Manhattan, Kan. as the Sooners battle the #2 ranked Kansas State Wildcats.

The Wildcats might be a great team, but no one's for sure. The Wildcats' six victories is only one less than the total win count of Wildcat opponents Kansas, Colorado, North Texas, Ball State, Louisiana Tech and Iowa. However, don't let the opponents fool you. Just remember, that's the same thing people were saying about OU's schedule a week ago in Austin.

The Wildcats have won 25 straight at home and 35 of the last 36 regular season games. Their last regular season loss was a 41-15 loss to Nebraska last November and their last home loss was in October 1996 to Nebraska. K-State has also won 13 straight in October.

Wildcat QB Jonathan Beasley has thrown 92 consecutive passes without an interception, a streak that dates back to the October game. The OU defense, however, has forced 10 turnovers in the last two games.

Kansas State is an early nine point favorite. The game will be nationally televised by ABC and will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. Brent Musburger will be the play-by-play announcer  with Gary Danielson on color and Chip Tarkington on the sidelines.  ESPN Game Day will broadcast live from Manhattan.
