It wasn't flawless and at times it was just downright ugly, but the University of Oklahoma women knocked off the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State 65-48 on Wednesday night to improve to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in Big 12 play.  The OU women overcame 21 turnovers to defeat OSU, who is now 9-6 overall and 1-1 in conference, thanks to a defense that allowed only 29% shooting and an offense that got hot enough to go on a 19-2 run in the first half to put the game out of the Cowgirls reach.

All-America candidates Stacey Dales and LaNeishea Caufield led the Sooners with 16 and 18 respectively and were the main cogs in the run in the first half.  Caton Hill also contributed well to the Oklahoma cause with a near double-double having 11 points and nine rebounds, Tari Cummings had 18 for the Cowgirls.

The game, televised locally on KSBI, was played in front of a promising crowd of 8,402 in the Lloyd Noble Center that watched Oklahoma cruise to their 17th consecutive victory against Big 12 competition in the regular season.  The Sooners have now won five in a row against the Cowgirls and the win evened the two schools in the Bedlam Series at 2-2.

The Sooner women hit the hardwood again on Saturday in Waco, Texas at Baylor in a game televised by Fox Sports Southwest at 3 p.m.  The Cowgirls travel to Boulder to play Colorado on Saturday in a game that will not be televised.
