Sooners Escape College Station

February 10, 2002

Oklahoma got a lot more than expected in order to get what was expected, a win in College Station over the Texas Aggies.  Aaron McGhee led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the 68-64 victory that improved the Sooners record to 19-3 overall and 8-2 in conference.

For the second game in a row OU couldn't find a rhythm but did find a victory against a new and improved cellar-dweller, first the Baylor Bears and now A&M.  Melvin Watkins' crew ran several different defenses to try to keep players like Hollis Price and Jason Detrick from beating them so McGhee did instead.

Quannas White also added a double-double for Oklahoma with 12 points and 12 assists as the Sooners continued to tighten their grip on second place in the Big 12 with six games to go.

The Sooners next travel to Stillwater for the second round of bedlam this season on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.  The game will be locally televised on ESPN+.
