Home Sweet Home, Sooners Finish Perfect Season February 26, 2002
For all those who love to bash the fans of the University of Oklahoma, the OU Basketball team would like to differ. Oklahoma completed a 16-0 home season with a 89-75 victory over Iowa State on Tuesday night and extended the overall home winning streak to 22 games overall.
Aaron McGhee put up what is becoming a routine double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Hollis Price dumped in 24 points to lead the Sooners to their 23rd victory against four losses. Jabahri Brown put on his best offensive performance of the season with 10 points on 5-8 shooting and seven rebounds while Ebi Ere had 12 points.
Tyray Pearson led the Cyclones in scoring with 20 points and Omar Bynum had 8 points and 11 rebounds for 12-17 Iowa State. Shane Power had 14 points as Jake Sullivan and Rickey Morgan both dropped in 12.
The undefeated season was the second for Oklahoma under Kelvin Sampson, the first since his first season in 1994-95. Aaron McGhee and Daryan Selvy, the two Seniors who were JUCO Transfers finished 29-1 at Lloyd Noble over their two years with the lone loss coming to the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Sooners round out the regular season at Colorado on Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be locally televised by ESPN+ on local channel 34, Cox Channel 11.
