Sooners Get Commitment from Top National Point Guard September 16, 2002 by Mac Thompson Recruiting Analyst Columbus, Ohio native Andrew Lavender has verbally committed to play basketball at the University of Oklahoma. Lavender, a 5-7, 155 pound point guard, is easily the top recruit OU Coach Kelvin Sampson has landed since Ryan Humphrey. He chose OU over Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and North Carolina. Lavender is a scoring machine and will be a difference maker when he arrives on campus in the fall of 2003. Joining Lavender at OU is his Ohio AAU teammate Brandon Foust (6-6, 185 lb, Forward). The two will come to OU as a package deal, joining current Sooner commitment Lawrence McKenzie of Minneapolis. With these great athletes on board, Sampson is solidifying the Sooner hoopsters place in college basketballs upper echelon.
