Oklahoma Head Basketball Coach Kelvin Sampson yesterday added 6-10, 225 pound Larry Turner to his 2002 recruiting class. Turner originally signed to play at Georgia, but had problems qualifying and was forced to look at other options. Turner is a big, athletic inside presence who should make an immediate impact on this year's Sooner hoops squad.

Turner joins an already stellar recruiting class for Sampson for the 2002 class. Stroud power forward Kevin Bookout and Midwest City shooting guard DeAngelo Alexander will also enroll this August at OU. Sampson also added a McDonald's All-American transfer from Kentucky, Rashaad Carruth to the Sooners' future. Carruth played sparingly last year for Wildcat Head Coach Tubby Smith. In prep school, Carruth was one of the most explosive 3-point shooters in the country. He will sit out the 2002-2003 season and become eligible next year.

Sampson also recently added Minnesota guard Lawrence McKenzie to the 2003 class. McKenzie is a good shooting guard who hopes to make an impact after the departure of Quannas White, Hollis Price and Ebe Ere next season.

The future definitely looks bright for Sampson's OU program. The Sooners have a legitimate shot to be ranked preseason number one next year and look to be contenders for years to come with the star power Sampson and crew have added with this year's recruiting crop.
