Biggest Games 1. Northwestern at Illinois. November 22, 2001. This game is as big because of its time in the season as it is for the matchup. Northwestern could be playing for a shot at the national title while Illinois could still have a chance for the Big 10 title. 2. Michigan at Washington. September 8, 2001. Nationally televised during the second full week of college football, this is a chance for the Big 10 to show the nation that they are underrated. 3. Purdue at Michigan. October 13, 2001. This is the chance for Purdue's Brandon Hance to prove that he can fill the colossal shoes of one Drew Brees. 4. Ohio State at Michigan. November 24, 2001. In the running for the Big 10 title this game surprisingly means little this season, to everyone except for the Buckeye's new head honcho Jim Tressel. Think John Cooper will be watching? 5. Penn State at Miami. September 1, 2001. Joe Paterno gets a chance on national television to prove that the 2000 season was just a season that you run into twice every 35 years as he has. Just hanging close will be a victory for the Nittany Lions.
